Kurt Diemberger is the only Mountaineer who has made the first ascents on two mountains over 8,000m which are Broad Peak (8,047m) in 1957 and Dhaulagiri (8,167m) in 1960. From a young boy roaming through mountains in search of crystal to becoming the climbing partner and last person to see Hermann Buhl, and also earn the nickname, ‘Filmmaker of the 8000s’, his achievements were recognized when the Piolet d’Or awarded Kurt Diemberger with a Lifetime Achievement award. He majored in documentary cinematography. He has been an art director, alongside Luisa Montrosset, of the new Cervino Cine Mountain Festival. His works include La plume de l’ours(2006) and Per gentie per ghiacci(2006).
